To an inquisitive reader, old Lithuanian literature should resemble The Mysterious Island by Julės Verne. Having wandered through the civil turmoils of the recent decade into this so far unheard-of land, one finds not only inhabitable locations and known forms of life, but also the wise master of these places, a peculiar Captain Nemo. Observing his guest at the beginning and helping to tame natūrai and human elements later, this Cap-tain Nemo reveals a multitude of wonderful things to the newcomer. Eventually the guest notices that his or her world outlook has substantially changed: it has grown, deepened, and acquired new colours, sounds, and sensations.
