The Captive

The Samogitians, the last pagans of Europe, accepted Christianity only in 1413 and they did so after their Christian enemies were defeated. The period that led up to this event is a fascinating segment of history, replete with crusading armies, orders of fighting monks and continuous wars between Christian Europe and Pagan Lithuania that were to last over two hundred years.
