The aim of this book is to contribute to the emerging debate on men by sketching out a plausible account of gender relations whitch explores this alternative possibility. I believe that many feminists, across the whole movement, have made some extremely questionable assumptions about the nature of men and their place in society, and that this has weakened their broader analysis of social and economic systems, and reduced the force of their strategic decisions on how to transform them.
Geoff Dench is a sociologist who has moved recently into area of family and gender relations, after working for many years on ethnic relations.
