The aim of this textbook is to assist students in studying the means and ways of translating Russian phrases into English, analysing the process of translation in its development, learning how to overcome translation problems, how to achieve adequacy when the text of the source language contains certain emotive estimation.
As the practice of translation shows, idiomatic set-phrases happen to be most difficult to cope with for a number of reasons. The first important reason lies in the nature of set-phrases themselves: a phraseological unit is a set lexeme-combination whose meaning is either fully or partially figurative.
